Sleeping Woman Left Locked Inside Plane

McGuire was left locked for 4 hours

A Michigan woman, who fell asleep during her flight, was left locked inside the plane for 4 hours after it landed.

Ginger McGuire, 36, was flying from Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C., and arrived at Philadelphia International Airport before 12:30 a.m.

She woke up to find herself locked inside the plane and was eventually found by the cleaning crew who, fearing a security breach, called in federal officers.

"I fell asleep on the plane. Next thing you know, I wake up at four o'clock in the morning, nobody's on the plane, nothing," McGuire said.

"Waking up to an empty airplane and not being able to get out was horrifying. I know that's a dramatic word, but it was a little much," she added.

McGuire has sued United Airlines and blames the crew for simply forgetting her.

"To lock her on the plane is incomprehensible. We've filed a four-count complaint alleging breach of contract, because common carriers have a higher duty of care," said Geoffrey Fieger, her attorney. "We've (also) alleged negligence, false imprisonment and infliction of emotional distress."

Fellow passengers expressed their dismay and called the incident a clear breach of security.

United Airlines has admitted a breach of protocol but have not commented on the lawsuit.
