Mother Pimped 12 Year Old Daughter To 100 Men
A 41 year old woman from Hobart, Australia has been jailed for 10 years for prostituting her 12 year old daughter.
The mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to receiving fee derived from sexual services provided by a child, operating a sexual services business and procuring sex with a person under 17.
The mother with her partner, Garry John Devine, 51, decided that the child should become a prostitute to make money, after $20 went missing from her wallet. She then put out the first of six advertisements in The Mercury newspaper, which described the girl as "Angela 18 years old and new in town".
She booked a room at the Hobart Midcity Hotel for two nights for her daughter to work, leaving her under the supervision of Devine, who would knock on the door to tell clients that their time was up.
After her first night, the mother reportedly rang the daughter and asked if she was having fun.
The business later continued at Devine's residence. It is estimated that the child slept with more than 100 men in one month. The lubricant and condoms were supplied by the mother, while an extra $50 was charged for unprotected sex. The child contracted multiple sexually transmitted diseases, including chlamydia and genital warts.
The three of them shared the proceeds and used them to buy drugs.
The judge described the mother's conduct as, "an appalling breach of trust and an abuse of her maternal obligations to her daughter" and ruled that she should not be considered for parole unless she had served at least 7 years. The mother sobbed as the sentence was being announced.
The child has been placed in foster care.
