Fight To Bring Absinthe Back To France

The mythical "Green Fairy" could make a comeback in France after almost a century.
The drink, which is said to have inspired a multitude of artistic masterpieces, has been banned in France since 1915.
Franck Choisne, owner of the Colombier distillery, widely known for producing high quality absinthe, wants the ban to be overturned.
He has joined forces with a New York law firm and American connoisseur and distiller Ted Breaux, one of the men responsible for legalizing absinthe in USA.
With solid scientific evidence for support, they are hoping that the French Parliament will authorize the use of the name "Absinthe".
Currently, absinthe can only be marketed as an "Absinthe Based Spirit" in France and has to use a different method of preparation.
Absinthe is distiled from the leaves and flowers of the herb "Wormwood". It was originally banned because scientists of that time believed that Wormwood contained thujone, a chemical blamed for hallucinations and brain damage. Recent studies have however debunked this belief.
Absinthe fans maintain that the drink provides an unparalleled and completely harmless experience.
