Craigslist Seller Robbed Of Shoes
A Craigslist seller was robbed of seven pairs of Nike collectible footwear after buyers arrived with guns.
The 21 year old Houston resident set up a meeting at a park in the Southern Trails subdivision to meet the supposed buyers. At about 3 p.m. a vehicle arrived and the 'buyer' emerged to collect the shoes. When the seller demanded payment, the man lifted his shirt to display a handgun. Two other men then also got out and displayed their handguns.
The men then sped away in the vehicle. The victim was at that time accompanied by three friends.
Police have expressed their surprise at the choice of meeting place for trading and have urged caution when dealing with unknown buyers.
“It appears to be random meeting place, and an unusual one at that,” Pearland police Sgt. Onesimo Lopez said. “Anyone looking to sell property on Craigslist should consider the location of the property exchange – and really think and use their head more.
“They need to find someplace that’s public, where there’s a lot of witnesses around,” he said. “Maybe a mall would have been better."
Investigators are still looking into the incident and no arrests have been made as yet.
