British Family Refuses To Deal With Black Staff
A British family staying in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Naples, Florida has become embroiled in a race row after they refused to get served by black staff or anyone with a "foreign accent".
The family, whose principal has been named Rodney Morgan made the request during check in. The five star hotel then followed their racist directions and stopped a black waiter from serving the family.
The waiter, Haitian-born Wadner Tranchant has sued the Hotel for breach of civil rights and psychological trauma. The claim lodged at the Florida District Court stated that "On or about February 28, 2010, the Rodney Morgan family arrives as guests of (the) Ritz and specified… their preference to not be served by 'people of colour' or with 'foreign accents',". A note entered in the Hotel's computer system said that the family were 'very very prejudice'.
The Hotel also stopped nine other staff members from serving the family. The spokesman for Ritz Carlton has refused to comment.
