Consider if you want to find information on networking, then if you put the term “networking” with the inverted commas and hit the “I am feeling lucky” button, the Google search engine directly takes you to the required page where you can find all the details of Networking. The same technique, when applied to Bing, gets a list of sites as results for its users which can be quite confusing.

Real-Time Search
With the advent of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter etc., the need and hence demand for real-time search has pushed search engines to be more “real”. On that front, Bing has a dedicated page for Twitter to show the latest tweets from Twitter which it started before Google. However, Google today has a feature to show real time search results from not only Twitter but also from news sites and blogs. Hence, with such advanced technologies, Google definitely looks few steps ahead of Bing.

Google Search Results are more accurate
The “keyword” technique including the inverted commas that Google search engine uses for its search results makes the Google search results more accurate. Additionally, the tab of “I am feeling lucky” provided besides the “Search” button in the search engine helps users to land on the required page directly.

This is more applicable to the domain holders. While you update the description of your website, you expect it to be updated in the main server as soon as possible. When it comes to faster updates of the webpage, Bing lags behind Google. When Bing updates the description in 3-4 days, Google updates it within 48 hrs, if not in 24 hrs.

While you start typing your text in the search box of Google, Google automatically prompts you with a few terms starting with your typed text that enables your search to be more precised. Consider you typed in “Networking” in the search box, and then you will find several prompts on the screen just as below. However, Bing is not as good as Google when it comes to Search Suggestions.

Basic Searches are more relevant in Google Search
For any random search in a search engine, Google performs way better in returning general search results. For instance, if I enter the keyword “cabinet”, I don’t make it clear whether I was looking for shopping or retail results or information about the government. At that point, I demand my preferred search engine to make an educated decision on what results to return. Based on the sheer volume of search data Google has, it knows that when I entered “cabinet,” I was looking for retail results. Thus in terms of user experience Google is way superior.

The biggest drawback of Bing is the lack of “walking directions” and “search nearby options” in its map applications. While things are much simplified with Google maps as you can easily find walking or driving directions in Google maps, things are much complicated with Bing Map Applications.

Preference
Even though Bing is making steady progress, it stands no chance when it is placed next to Google. As per Compete.com data, compiled up to Nov 2009, number of visitors using Google is increasing at an average rate of 1.48% while that for Bing, it is decreasing at an average rate of 0.03%. This clearly shows that Google is preferred over Bing by users worldwide. With such a huge fan following, Bing will have a really tough time to dethrone Google from the numero uno spot when it comes to search.
