When we talk of Arizona, endless deserts and countless immigrants from Mexico is what comes straight to your minds. There are a number of laws in Arizona that seem to have been formulated by the least sensible people on the face of the earth. These dumb laws are sufficient to make Arizona appear as stupid a state as California which itself boasts mortifyingly stupid laws. Let’s take a look at the laws that make no sense whatsoever at the state-level.
1 – Marking a Flag is Offensive!
A class 2 misdemeanor occurs if one places a mark upon a flag which is “likely to provoke physical retaliationâ€.
2 – Fake Cocaine in Arizona is Outlawed!
Seems like a warning of caution for the illegitimate drug dealers out there! You better be careful drug lords else you could face a class 6 felony in an attempt to sell fake cocaine. As they say, cocaine is not a solution, unless it is dissolved in water!
3 – You Can’t Hunt Camels Down!
This is a law to which one can find numerous references scattered all over the world wide web but there is no documented reference to this law about when and where it was actually passed and subsequently enforced. Remember that camel is not a native Arizona animal, so how could this law make any sense. The camels were brought into the deserts of Arizona way back in the 1850s by the U.S. Army to move freights and men within the desert and so a camel corps was established.
The idea had to be abandoned during the Civil War and was taken up by the local traders. So, it is possible that during those days, there might have been a law in place to stop the camels from being shot at. These day, however, Arizona Game and Fish Department is responsible for hunting in the state, and according to them, there is no law that says “You can’t hunt camels down!â€.

4 – Cutting Down a Cactus Can Cost You 25 Years of Freedom!
The Saguaro cactus, treasured by Arizonians, has been endangered by those who find pleasure in shooting or cutting down cacti. Thus, a law was passed to protect the cactus.
5 – Restaurants Are Obligated to Provide a Glass of Water for Free!
There are businesses, stores and restaurants in Arizona, that provide you with a glass of water for free, when requested. However, there is no law in the state that binds them to do so. This is a myth and has no factual basis. As a matter of fact, even if someone was dying of dehydration, refusing to provide them with water won’t be criminal at all in the state. (ethically it will be another story altogether).
6 – Six Unrelated Girls Can’t Live Together!
The people of Arizona have been of the view that if more than six women live together, they are up to no good. And this is precisely what led to the emergence of this mythical law. At least since the 1960s, people in Phoenix, Arizona have believed that this law exists. However, no such law exists in reality! There is a law in Tempe, Arizona, that prevents more than three unrelated persons to live in a family home in a bid to clamp down on a large number of people cramming a small space. So, if you along with your female friends plan to live in a house together in Phoenix, you might not be allowed to do so not because of the fear of it being converted into a brothel but sheerly for the restricted number of residents allowed to live in a single building.
